We just finished building Justin’s home, which is EarthCraft Virginia Tier II certified, ENERGY STAR certified, and EPA Indoor airPLUS certified! Also, this home received a home energy rating of 44, which means this home is incredibly energy-efficient.

The HERS Index is a scoring system established by the Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET) in which a new home built to code scores a HERS Index of 100, while a net zero energy home scores a HERS Index of 0. The lower a home’s HERS Index, the more energy efficient it is in comparison to a home built to code.

Each 1-point decrease in the HERS Index corresponds to a 1% reduction in energy consumption. Therefore, this home is 56% more energy efficient than a traditional home built to code.
